Description
Far from the busiest routes, about 37 kilometers southeast of La Fortuna, a private rainforest shelters a crystal-clear river that tumbles through a series of waterfalls. Getting there is part of the adventure: a scenic drive past pastures, farmland and the small village of La Vieja, where rural Costa Rican life still moves at its own gentle pace.
On arrival, your professional guides fit you with a harness, helmet and gloves and walk you through a clear, thorough safety briefing. Then comes the big moment: a rappel of roughly 30 meters beside a waterfall, with mist on your skin and the roar of falling water right beside you. No previous experience is needed; guides manage the ropes at all times and coach you every step of the way.
At the base of the falls, a world of emerald pools and smaller cascades waits to be explored. Swim, let the currents massage your shoulders and, if you are feeling bold, leap from natural ledges ranging from 1 to 10 meters high. Every jump is optional, so each traveler chooses their own level of adrenaline.
A photographer joins the group to capture the best moments, with photos available for purchase afterward. Back at the adventure center in La Fortuna, hot showers, towels and a hearty Costa Rican lunch with tropical fruit smoothies and local coffee are waiting. It is the perfect blend of excitement, untouched nature and authentic local flavor.
