Description

For travelers who want to experience Arenal at full intensity, this combo pairs two of Costa Rica's most exhilarating adventures in a single day. Just minutes from La Fortuna, a 4x4 truck carries you along rural roads to a hidden rainforest canyon where water has carved rock walls draped in ferns, moss and wild orchids.

After gearing up at the ranch house, the canyoning begins. You will rappel beside several waterfalls, descend the sheer canyon wall and try the famous monkey drop, a controlled free fall that draws screams and laughter in equal measure. A short rock-climbing section tests your agility along the way. Your professionally trained guides manage every rope and every move.

After a snack break, the adventure changes pace and scenery. You will board your raft for about two hours on a river of Class II and III rapids, framed by tropical forest, with chances to spot toucans, herons, iguanas and even sloths along the banks. Midway down, there is a pause to swim in calm water, with fresh fruit and cold drinks served on the riverbank.

The day closes with a hearty, well-earned traditional Costa Rican lunch as you trade stories with your fellow adventurers. It is an intense yet accessible day for active people with no prior experience, ideal for friends, adventurous couples and families with teenagers looking for an unforgettable story to tell.
