Description

The Tenorio River is born on the slopes of the volcano that shares its name and races down toward the plains of Cañas with an energy that has made it the most exciting rafting river in northwestern Costa Rica. Its clear water runs between rock walls and gallery forest, linking technical Class III and IV rapids with waterfall-style drops that test the coordination of the whole crew. If you want genuine adrenaline during your stay in Guanacaste, this is your day.

The adventure starts early with hotel pickup and a scenic drive through the Guanacaste countryside, past cattle ranches, sugarcane fields and the silhouettes of volcanoes on the horizon. At the base, certified guides hand out the gear, explain paddling techniques and commands, and walk through safety protocols with patience and good humor.

Once on the water, the fun is nonstop. You will paddle to your guide's rhythm through waves, eddies and narrow chutes between boulders, and the raft will launch over drops that leave everyone soaked and shouting with excitement. Between rapids, the river calms and reveals herons, kingfishers, iguanas and sometimes monkeys along the banks. Whenever water levels allow, your guide will choose the most spectacular lines.

After the run, a well-earned home-style lunch awaits, along with water and fresh fruit. Then you head back to your hotel with tired arms and an unforgettable grin. This is an adventure for active travelers, perfect for groups of friends and families with teenagers who love sharing a thrill as a team.
