Description
Why choose between flying over the rainforest and descending its waterfalls when you can do both in a single day? This combo adventure brings together the two most iconic experiences in the mountains above Jaco in one full day, designed for travelers who want to make every minute of their trip count.
The morning belongs to the zip lines. A tractor carries you for about 15 minutes up through the property to the top of the mountain, and from there begin nearly two hours of soaring: 10 cables and 12 platforms crossing valleys blanketed in tropical forest, with the Pacific Ocean glittering on the horizon. Between lines, your guides point out birds, monkeys and towering old trees.
After lunch to recharge, you swap your zip line harness for canyoning gear and trek along the riverbed into the heart of the canyon. Here the adventure gets wet: you will rappel down five waterfalls, feeling cool water wrap around you as you descend moss-covered rock walls. Between descents there is time to leap from a 10-foot platform into the river and to whoosh down a natural slide polished smooth by centuries of current.
Throughout the canyoning section, your guides hand out fruit and energy bars to keep everyone going strong. By day's end you will have seen the rainforest from above, from within and from the water itself, a complete perspective that few travelers ever experience. It is a demanding day yet accessible to any active person, and one of the very best ways to live the pura vida spirit in Jaco.
