Description
Behind the beaches of Manuel Antonio lies another Costa Rica: red-earth roads, oil palm plantations forming shady corridors, villages where neighbors wave from their gates and rivers you cross with water spraying off the wheels. This ATV expedition lets you discover that rural landscape with the thrill of driving your own off-road machine.
After a short transfer of about twenty minutes to the operations center, specialized guides explain how the ATV works and go over safety rules, and you take a brief practice run before heading out. Then the route begins: stretches of mud and gravel, curves through the greenery and creek crossings that make every mile a small adventure. You can drive solo or share a vehicle as a passenger.
The destination is a private nature reserve where the engines fall silent and the hike begins. A trail climbs and dips beside a small river dotted with waterfalls, crosses a couple of hanging bridges and offers chances to spot birds, reptiles and mammals in lush forest. At the end of the walk a natural pool of crystal-clear water awaits, perfect for cooling off while you enjoy fresh fruit.
Back at the operations center, a traditional Costa Rican lunch restores your energy, and there is time to rinse off and change before the transfer to your hotel. Available as a group or private tour, it is the ideal blend of adrenaline, local culture and nature for anyone who wants to see a different side of the Central Pacific.
